Hibiscus Spritz

Hibiscus Rosé Spritz

4 oz Rosé, Preferably a Cote de Provence

2 oz Hibiscus Tea, iced

1 oz Aperol

2 oz club soda

Build over Lots of Ice!

serves 1

For the Hibiscus Tea:  I usually brew a large container of this and ice it for iced tea, proportions are about 1 Tbsp. loose hibiscus to 3 cups of water.  Steep for 15 minutes, let cool and refrigerate.

The aperol spritz gets updated:

Here is a little summer time teaser for you all…  The Hibiscus Rosé Spritz, which is the more exotic, big sister version of the Aperol Spritz, and just in time to join you for the weekend.  I think it’s the perfect brunch companion since it’s not too boozy and it has some of my favorite pink liquids, to boot!!!  Rose, Aperol and Hibiscus tea (which is healthy!) served on ice with a splash of soda is such a yummy cocktail.  I like to garnish it with a few raspberries but I bet a grapefruit wheel would pair nicely with the bitter grapefruit notes in the Aperol.  To your health!

benefits of hibiscus tea:

Hibiscus Tea is one of the few teas I like hot as well as iced.  In the winter, sipping hot hibiscus reminds me of warmer, brighter days as it has a very punchy an sour flavor profile, plus the color is so rich and exotic.  It’s also excellent as a thirst quencher on hot summer days when you are up for something a little more interesting than water.  Hibiscus tea (also known as Agua de Jamaica) also has great health benefits such as decreasing high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  It’s also good for inflammatory and immune system problems. So drink up!
