Julia Doherty

My friends call me Hulie, not quite sure who started it...  I was raised in Upstate New York among the valleys and gorgeous seasonal changes.  With a background in culinary and horticulture, I love food and gardening as well as redesigning my old house.  I currently work in the solar industry and will be teaching a horticulture course at the local university this fall so there's lots going on!  This lifestyle blog is dedicated to all the things I love and I hope the content speaks to you!

 My husband, Brett, and I spend countless hours in the kitchen trying out new ways to transform fresh ingredients into new classics. I am lactose intolerant and he is gluten intolerant so we get really creative and are always impressed with the incredibly delicious recipes we cook up. Most of them are Whole30 compliant, all of them are gluten free.  With help from my cat, Vespa, dog, Maggie and 7 feather footed hens, the house is a lively place to be inspired by cuisine + nature but Brett and I make sure to step out of our little world to travel as much as we can in order to taste, smell and be engulfed by the colors of the world.   

I love good wine, cooking (while drinking good wine), plants and DIY house projects. I blog to share the successes and often the failures of the food, plant and house renovation worlds.
